Playing Five Card Stud
One of the original games of poker, Five card Stud, has fallen out of favor with the bulk of those playing poker these days (at casinos as well as at online poker sites), the game of Seven playing card Stud being a much more well-liked kind of stud poker games.

To play a game of Five card Stud you carry out the following:
- Anyone playing must ante up prior to the deal (table restrictions control the size of the ante necessary).
- Each participant receives two playing cards, one has been dealt face down (this has been called the ‘hole’ card) and one dealt face up.
- A round of betting takes place, with the participant displaying the maximum valued card going first.
- All players are dealt a further card, face up.
- Another round of betting occurs.
- Another card is given (face up) to every player.
- Another round of betting follows, in this round of betting the minimum wager has been doubled.
- All players are dealt their last playing card, face up.
- The final round of betting takes place.
With all of the betting over the remaining participants display their hand starting with the person who was the last to raise the pot. The highest poker hand wins the poker game and takes the pot.
