Rules For Craps
All games of chance are easy to play, Craps is no exception and the game is simple to play. It is the number of different ways to wager on the outcome of the throw is what makes the game interesting to casino patrons and intimidates novices to the game.

The game of craps is different from most casino games, in that you don't have to roll the dice to wager on the outcome. In most games you bet on yourself to win, with the game of Craps anyone can bet on the outcome of the roll of the dice.

Before discussing the rules of craps there are a few housekeeping items that we should mention:

  1. While you don't have to roll the dice to participate in a Craps game, if you do want to throw the dice you must place a wager.
  2. To make sure there is no messing with the dice you must only handle them with one hand and the dice must be kept over the table in sight of the dealers at all times.
  3. To ensure a 'true' roll casinos insist that you throw the dice across the table and off the rail on the far side.
Before the shooter starts to roll the dice bets are made (anyone at the table can place a bet) on the outcome of the roll. To play the thrower selects a pair of dice from several offered to him/her by the stickman and then he/she throws the dice. The first throw by a new shooter is called the come out roll and results in one of the following:
  1. The shooter rolls a 7 or 11, this is a win. Those who bet for the shooter win even money those who bet against the shooter lose.
  2. The shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, this is a loss. Those who bet for the shooter lose while those who bet against the shooter win even money (a 12 is considered a tie for these betters).
  3. The shooter throws any other number and you have a Point. All money bet remains in play.
With a Point established the shooter will roll again and the following will happen:
  1. The shooter throws a 7 or 11, and wins. Those who bet for the shooter win even money those who bet against the shooter lose.
  2. The shooter rolls a 2, 3, or 12, this is a loss. Those who bet for the shooter lose while those who bet against the shooter win even money.
  3. The shooter throws any other number and you have a Point (this is another Point and may be different from the Point established on the come-out roll. All money bet remains in play.
The shooter continues to roll. Assuming you bet for the shooter, if the shooter rolls the Point or the Come Point before a 7 you win even money on your bet, if the shooter rolls a 7 first you lose. The opposite occurs if you bet against the shooter.
